Ruchi Dhir’s ways to travel, ways to see and get to know a place
There’s one way to see a place; do your research, search online, speak to people who have been – make lists – places to eat, sights to see and activities and tick them off – that’s one kind of holidays.

Chill On A Beach, Take It All In

Or you might be after just chilling on a sun lounger and just decompressing and watching time go by, losing track of which country or city you are in as all the sun and beaches blend into one.

I like both, but my favourite way to see a country is to be driven by a sporting event.
Most recently I planned a trip to Barbados after securing tickets to the T20 Cricket World Cup.

The semi final for which I had tickets was being held in Guyana and I thought I would tie in a trip to Barbados where there were some matches as well. It’s a great opportunity to see a country in a different way.

It’s a great way to connect with people over sport and make friends.
Though you go with the intention of seeing sport, it gives you a gateway to connect to people and a country in a completely different way.

Flying Into Barbados – Ruchi Style!

We flew into Bridgetown Barbados, were greeted by a rep whoi shouted out ‘Ruchi Dhir’ in a loud and clear voice, hired a car from him and went to our hotel on the South East coast. Barbados is only 20 miles long so it makes sense to hire a car to get a round and see as much as you can.
We had beach days on Carlisle Bay and Sandy Lane beach: both beautiful, turquoise waters and white sand and super relaxing. We took the car up the East Coast to Bathsheba village stopping along the way to view the beautiful coastline. We went and saw matches at Kensington Oval stadium and stopped on Friday night at Oistins Fish Market for great food and a fantastic atmosphere.
A fabulous way to see a country is to book an event, show or sporting event which opens a totally new way of experiencing it.
